Who is Eligible to Attend Franklin’s Dual Language Academy Magnet?
All students interested in a dual immersion program are encouraged to apply through the e-Choices application at http://echoices.lausd.net/. It is strongly recommended that 6th, 7th and 8th grade middle school students:
FDLA also has a high school program that is enrolling 9th and 10th graders. Students take two classes in Spanish each year and work towards obtaining a biliteracy seal on their high school diplomas. |
Franklin Dual Language Academy Magnet
Franklin Dual Language Academy's middle school students enjoy the benefits of a small, nurturing program right when kids need it most, while having access to all of the benefits that a large school like Franklin has to offer.
FDLA's middle school is a 50/50 dual immersion model with Spanish, science, and history in the target language.
FDLA has 8 highly qualified middle school dual language teachers that help students meet content area standards and language proficiency goals throughout the day.

Safety:
Middle-school students have
- a uniform that clearly distinguishes them from our high school students,
- their own separate entrance on Ave 56 with a pedestrian gate and a school administrator present to welcome them each morning and send them home each day,
- their own campus in the upper section of the school site, separate from high school classrooms, and
- a separate lunch area as well as their own gym and changing areas.
