Educators and parents must recognize that students of all ages need to be as physically active as they are able to be in order to stay healthy.Students need physical education every day. It is also important that students have the knowledge and understanding needed to participate in physical activities correctly, safely, and to the best of their ability. For example, students should be able to enjoy such activities as running or playing softball not only because they enjoy the activity but also because they understand and are applying the knowledge needed to achieve their highest level of physical performance.

This new Physical Education Framework, which provides philo-sophical direction and perspectives on curriculum and instruction, is an important resource for curriculum planners, decision makers, teachers, and parents to use in developing strong instructional programs. Through collaborative efforts we can prepare our children to be healthy and fit for the rest of their lives.
